Barclay College designed the Friends Ministry Training (FMT) Certificate Program to provide a quality educational experience for men and women in the Friends Church who are serving (or who feel called to serve) as pastors, missionaries, church planters, or other church leaders, but do not yet have ministerial education. Preparing church leaders is a natural extension of the mission of Barclay College – to prepare students in a Bible-centered environment for effective Christian life, service, and leadership.
Here are some of the advantages of the program:
- Fast-paced: The 10-course program can be completed in only two years (four semesters). Unique classes can be arranged specifically for your Yearly Meeting if you have eight or more students.
- Convenient: Each six-week class is 100% online with flexibility so that students can fit their coursework into their own schedules.
- Equipping: Students participate in a free Orientation class to become acquainted with the technology used in the FMT program.
- Accredited: Barclay College is fully accredited through the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and ABHE.
- Comprehensive: The 10 required FMT courses were handpicked by denominational leaders, pastors, and educators to lay the best foundation for ministry.
- Affordable: A $300 scholarship per class is available for participants completing the classes for college credit.
- Certificate Awarded: FMT graduates receive a special certificate of completion from Barclay College.
- Recording: Classes may satisfy the educational requirements for recording as a Friends’ minister in many Yearly Meetings.
- Degree Path: Each graduate will be able to continue their studies to receive a Bachelor’s degree if they choose.
