During the past five years Evangelical Friends Mission has been going through a huge transition as we hired Stan Leach as our Executive Director, added additional staff, obtained full buy-in from all six EFC Yearly Meetings from across North America, and launched an initiative to plant at least five new mission fields by the year 2025. It has been quite a ride.
When you recognize Evangelical Friends in North America is a rather small group of about 300 churches, what we believe God is leading us to do globally seems pretty amazing. We have a goal to plant AT LEAST five new mission fields by sending AT LEAST ten missionaries by the year 2025.
This goal has been thought about, prayed about, planned for, and strategized about for over two years. Nearly a dozen trips have been taken internationally in an effort to identify where those fields might be located. Earlier this month in Portland, Oregon 70 leaders from across North America met in hopes of identifying where those six new mission fields would be located. On Thursday evening, November 10th, the six new fields were announced. They are:
- Mexico
- South Sudan
- Greece
- Ecuador
- Northeast Brazil
- Gulf States (UAE)
In addition, over $190,000 has been raised to underwrite the initial training of the twelve missionaries who will be deployed to these six countries. It is exciting to see what God is doing around the world, and the opportunity we have to play a part in this great venture.
The other exciting part of this process is that it appears we are not done with six new fields. We could very possible be announcing up to three more mission fields in the next couple of years.
Please continue to pray that the “Lord of the harvest would send laborers into his field” as we seek to identify who will be going on behalf of Evangelical Friends in North America. Thank you for your continued prayers and ongoing support of global missions through our mission sending agency, EFM.
