Pastor Rogelio Arevalo of Palau Iglesias Amigos (Palau Friends Church) in the state of Coahuila, Mexico passed away recently with diabetes complications at the age of 72. A funeral was held March 9. Rogelio was pastor for at least 45 years. Palau is one of the churches that is part of the Mexican yearly meeting that Felipe Vasquez started, that Samuel Vasquez currently leads. Rogelio has given leadership to many youth teams from Mid America Friends who have served since 1993 during Spring Break in Mexico. The first Spring Invasion in 1993 included the project of building a simple new church building at Palau with Pastor Rogelio. Rogelio has always been the hard-working supervisor of projects Mid America teams have completed with his church. Many youth and adults from Mid America have enjoyed the hospitality and good cooking from this church, as well as many special memories of VBS, soccer, and other evangelism and service activities.
Pastor Rogelio is survived by his wife, Dora, their children, Rogelio, Raquel, David, Josue, Gamaliel, Elizabeth and Dora, along with many grandchildren.
