Saturday was a somewhat relaxed day. We met at the office after breakfast and had team devotions and then left for the train station to go to Malda. I had never ridden in a train before so it was a really cool experience for me! The trip was about 6 hours and it was a wild adventure.
Sunday was full of visiting churches and worshipping God with the Friends Churches of the Malda region. We went to 2 different churches in different villages and preached, shared testimonies, sang, shared bible stories through drama. At the first church we went to, the other girls and I had a chance to dance with the women of the church. I was actually dancing with the pastor’s wife but didn’t know it until later during the service! It was so much fun and was a highlight of my day! Mark and Jenna both shared messages that God had laid on their hearts. Adam led a call and public response time that followed which was a very humbling thing to witness.
At the second service we had our normal program and sharing time. David and I shared our messages and it was amazing to see the Lord working in the people as we were sharing what was on our hearts. We got a chance to pray over the church and bless them in everything that they are doing in their village and in India. Then, as we do at most of the churches, we took lots of pictures with the people of the church at their request for “selfies.”
Coming back from the second church yesterday was a very interesting experience. Ramadan ended on Sunday which means that their celebrations have begun after sunset. But the streets were flooded with Hindu people celebrating a Hindu Festival and parading in the streets to worship their gods. It took awhile to get back to the hotel because of there being so many people. It broke my heart to see so many people that don’t know the love and truth of Jesus.
It has been absolutely amazing to go to so many different churches and seeing the joy of the Lord on their faces. We may live half a world apart, but we still worship the same God. It has been an amazing experience so far and the Lord has blessed our trip in so many ways. I can’t wait to see what He has in store for us the rest of the trip!
Before I sign off, I want to thank all of you guys for praying and supporting us on this trip! It means more than you will ever know to our team! We love all of you!
Blessings in Christ
