Anytime Friends Church young adults get together it is a wonderful time! The 2nd annual “Friends Friends Friends” retreat was no exception. Just like last year the retreat was held at the Oasis Ranch and Retreat Center in Plevna, KS. The event is called “Friends Friends Friends” because it is comprised of Friends University students who are connected with the Evangelical Friends Church and, of course, we invite some of our friends!
The retreat included corporate and individual prayer, fellowship and solitude, laughter and silence, and lots and lots of the important spiritual discipline of “play”. Specific highlights are multiple highly competitive and intense volleyball matchups, praying together, running and jumping across hay bails, late night conversations, and worshiping together through song (provided by Jared Harvey and John Gray). This year we had 15 students attend and were once again led and facilitated by Adam Monaghan, the EFC-MAYM Associate Superintendent of Global Ministries.
There seems to be a lot of positive change and momentum on the Friends University campus lately: a heightened sense of the importance of spiritual life, as well as the importance of a community of individuals who care about the well being of one another. I believe that we who went on the “Friends Friends Friends” retreat are some of the many people at Friends who are helping to advance this change and momentum.
Please pray for us as we start a new semester of school, and pray that the Kingdom of God will continue to be advanced at Friends University.
