From Home Missions Board:
The Summer Intern Program is a two-way street. The interns walk alongside ministry partners to grow, learn and gain experience while churches receive the blessings and fruit of their labor. Home Missions leadership has opened this opportunity to any future leader beyond high school age for great ministry experience. This year we have two Spanish-speaking interns from Rio Grande Bible College, and for the summer of 2016 when applications are opened again, we anticipate having several more interns involved depending on available opportunities. We want to encourage all EFC-MAYM churches to begin now envisioning how a ministry intern might further our Kingdom work.
Here are responses from our current interns:
“My name is Linaloe Los Espinosa De Los Moneros Navarro. I am a summer intern with EFC-MAYM from Reynosa, Mexico. My parents are Jose Luis and Esperanza Navarro. I thank God they are believers and have been guiding me throughout my life. I am now twenty years old and I study at Rio Grande Bible College, Edinburg, TX, during the school year. Rio Grande is a four-year college program. God has called me to missions ministry.
I am grateful to God for the opportunity to be an intern this summer at Oklahoma City Friends Church. Nick and Charla Shaffer and Isai and Sucely Ramos are helping me learn a lot. My goals are to acquire practical skills such as the English language and mission ministry in Iglesias Amigos (Friends Church). Please pray for me, that in the future I will put into practice what I learn this summer.”
“My name is Darío Emanuel Bastias, I am 27 years old and I am from Coihayque, Chile. I have two sisters and one brother. My parents, who are divorced, live in Chile. When I was a teenager, I travelled in Chile on a mission trip. As a result, I discovered that God wants me to give my life to missions.
I am a student at Rio Grande Bible College because I want to study the Bible and learn about missions. I will complete my practicum internship this year and I will graduate from RGBC. My desire is to serve God in another country.
Part of my time this summer will be spent at Camp Quaker Haven as a counselor, then I will work at the Church Plant in San Antonio, TX. I am happy I can be an intern with EFC-MAYM.”
