Luke 10 Update

By

Thayne Thompson | Lead Superintendent

2025 is rapidly approaching and we are on track through our partnership with EFM to launch six recently approved mission fields in the next couple of years. Those new fields are Muslim refugees in Greece, Northeast Brazil, Persian Gulf States, Ecuador, Mexico, and South Sudan, with additional potential fields still in process including Tanzania.

Of these six fields, two of them are directly connected with EFC-MAYM. Due to our historic connections with Friends in Mexico and our current ministry in Central Africa, we are considering how we can partner with our Friends in those parts of the world to launch new fields in Mexico and South Sudan. Multiple Luke 10 exploration trips have been undertaken in partnership with our Friends in these parts of the world. Approval for launching these fields was made by the EFM Board in November 2023.

We believe God is calling some of us to go and some of us to send.
What is the role God is calling you to in the days ahead?

Now comes the exciting and somewhat daunting task of identifying who will go from among us to serve in these parts of the world, as well as next steps that will move us from where we are today to the place where those missionaries representing us are fully funded and placed on the mission field.

Most of our six EFC-NA (Evangelical Friends Church-North America) Yearly Meetings have been given certain mission fields where they will play an integral role in helping to prepare and send missionaries. Of the six, EFC-MAYM has been given two and potentially three fields where we will have a vested interest.

During the next few weeks and months, you will hear more about the role we can play in helping launch these new fields by the end of 2025. Our Mission Mobilizers will be meeting in the near future to further consider how to lead us in this endeavor, alongside our EFM leadership.

Today we ask for your continual prayers, that the Lord of the harvest would send out workers into his harvest fields, for the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few (Luke 10:2). We believe God is calling some of us to go and some of us to send. What is the role God is calling you to in the days ahead? If you are sensing a potential call to serve on one of the six fields mentioned above, please contact Matt Macy for more information.
