We’re having a SPECIAL CONCERT and…YOU are INVITED! Monday, June 6 at 6:45 p.m. during Kids Camp (Quaker Haven, June 4-8) “Kingdom Builders”
The SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY is
an evening with Ken Medema.
Ken is…well…he’s amazing! He has unique musical gifts that include writing songs on the spot using the stories told to him, often with three random notes and a variety of musical styles. He started his improvisational music ministry working with children the age of those who will attend Kids Camp.
Why a concert during Kids Camp?
We are doing something new this year, combining 2 camps, we have a different leadership team, and we wanted to do something “out of the box.” Our hope is to have in attendance a handful of people from every church in the EFC-MAYM Wichita Area (or others…invite them along).
Why are you invited?
We want to expose people to current ministry at Quaker Haven and bring new energy, support and awareness of the camping program.
What does it cost?
The concert is free, but we will take an offering in order to offset this SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY. We welcome your generosity! You will be blessed and can be a blessing with your presence as well as your gifts of support.
Who is Ken Medema?
That’s hard to answer. For certain, he is an amazing communicator (with master improvisational musical skills) to people of all ages, sharing the gospel in song in a truly unique way. God uses Ken’s lack of sight to reveal a special sensitivity that we know will bless our Quaker Haven campers, counselors, staff, and…you!
Ken will be with us Monday night and Tuesday morning helping us to emphasize our theme – “Kingdom Builders” with creativity and joy. A brief bio on Ken can be found here: zephyrpoint.org/more-info?id=2818
In his book Giving Blood: A Fresh Paradigm for Preaching (p. 33 of a chapter on “Preaching in a Google World”) Leonard Sweet writes, “Ken Medema is my favorite preacher. Oh, I know Medema is a musician and poet – an artist of Jesus’ presence in the world. But through the gift of musical storytelling, Ken links people’s lives to Biblical faith and inspires them in the way of Christ.” That’s quite a recommendation!
So, feel free to gather up a carload or two of folks from your church and join us at Quaker Haven Monday, June 6 at 6:45 p.m. You’ll be glad you came…and so will we!
Three important things:
- It will help us plan space if you can let us know how many you think may come fromyour church. Even an approximate number would be great. Call or text Frank Penna
at 316-393-2359 as you become aware of those numbers.
- We respectfully request that you plan to be on the camp ground from around 6:30p.m. to 9:00 p.m. only. That will help us stay focused on our Kids Camp schedule.
- Please park only in the lot to the right just after you enter the gate.
