Greetings from Fowler Friends Church
I would like to share about two ministries that Fowler Friends Church has implemented over the past couple of years.
Due to various reasons the Fowler Friends youth group found themselves with a very limited number that could participate in our Spring Invasion trips into Mexico, but we still had a desire to serve in a cross-cultural ministry. The Holy Spirit led us to the Rough Rock Friends Mission in Rough Rock, Arizona. Our first trip was Spring Break of 2020 with 24 participants. Covid then tried to slow us down, but we were able to take another Spring Break trip in 2022. Multi-generational groups completed small work projects and developed cross-cultural friendships, while individually experiencing spiritual growth opportunities.
These two trips lead to something bigger in 2023. In 2019 the Rough Rock Friends Church suffered foundation damage and the building was unsafe to worship in. Covid caused a delay in the major construction that was needed to repair the church. Fowler Friends Church teamed up with other Western Area Churches, the Rocky Mountain Yearly Meeting, and many other individuals to tackle the construction needed. The trip in 2023 consisted of a Men’s work trip the week before Spring Break to do the bulk of the demolition and concrete pouring. Then over Spring Break the FFC youth came back down to help with the construction of a wall and the necessary finish work to make the Rough Rock Church suitable for Worship. Wednesday of that week was the first time a worship service was held in the Rough Rock Friends Church since 2019. There are still some small projects to be done but the church is back on its feet and the local congregation is consistently gathering for worship. Praise God!
Secondly, our church felt led to hold a revival. We really weren’t sure what this would look like or even how to prepare for this event, but God provided a way (just as he always does). Fowler Friends Church started out by purchasing our own pole tent and other supplies. This turned out to be less old-fashioned than we first thought it may be. Our initial tent revival in October of 2021 was fully equipped with a stage, overhead projector with music and slides, a full worship band, heaters and hot drinks. In 2021 our revival didn’t seem to reach very many new people in our community, but it was a very spiritual time for our own congregation. This led us to hold another revival in October of 2022. This revival reached more people in our community and in our area, and we were left with standing room only on our Saturday night service. We hosted three wonderful Quaker speakers these two years with Adrian Halverstadt speaking in 2021 and Tony and Stacey Wheeler in 2022. These revivals, though they require a lot of planning and volunteers, create an atmosphere of excitement and rejuvenation for our church. We are planning our next revival for October of 2023, and all are welcome to join us.
Each of these unique ministries have been a result of Fowler Friends Church listening to God’s still, small voice and being obedient to what He is calling us to do.
