We are blessed that Wayne Evans will teach our Institute class on August 1. He will speak on “Healthy Leadership in Friends Churches and Organizations,” as he explains the ministries of the Evangelical Friends Church International. Wayne is certainly well prepared to teach us. He is General Superintendent of Evangelical Friends Church-Eastern Region (EFC-ER). Prior to his current position, he was the Western Area Superintendent of EFC-ER. Wayne also provides leadership in the Haitian ministries in Haiti, the United States, and the Dominican Republic. He has written commentary for the Adult Friends curriculum. He is an Adjunct Professor at Malone University, where he attended as an undergraduate student. Wayne earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from George Fox Evangelical Seminary. He is married to Regina, and they are the loving parents of four children and two grandchildren. For recreation he enjoys travel, football, history, and cooking. From personal experience I know that Wayne has a great love for youth, college students, and persons being called into ministry. This is clearly revealed in his effective leadership at Barclay College, where he is a visiting speaker in Chapel services and in the classroom. Wayne also edited Everett Cattell’s book, The Spirit of Holiness, which has provided a very helpful resource for guiding us in our Christian living today.
We want our entire Institute family to hear Wayne’s presentation, because he will address ways to provide healthy Friends Church and organizational leadership across the various branches of Friends. Since many cannot join the live video conferences, Drew Davenport makes them available on YouTube here.
You may wish to set up an Institute class that best fits Friends in your church. Sites where the Institute classes are active include: Lighthouse Fellowship Church at the home of Jerry and Mary Louthan, Fowler Friends Church, Friends Ministry Center (Wichita), Friends Community Church (Angleton), New Hope Friends Church (Rocky Mountain Yearly Meeting), Friends Bible Training School (Alaska Yearly Meeting) at the home of David Miller, Noatak, Alaska (Robert Sheldon, Superintendent), Barclay College (Jackson Hall), Faith Friends Church, Sudanese Community Church (Omaha), Neighborhood Friends Church (at the home of Tom and Bonnie Bousman), Arkansas City Friends Church (at the home of Bud Lawrence), North Newton at the home of Merl Kinser, and Bangor Liberty Friends Church.
I will look forward to your joining us for an enriching learning experience that will inform us of the dynamics of healthy leadership for our Friends Churches and organizations in today’s world. We will meet in live video conference with Wayne on Monday at 7:00 p.m. central time, August 1, 2016. There will be a time of sharing in fellowship and getting better acquainted with one another at 6:50.
Blessings,
– Dave Kingrey, Director of Leadership Institute
