Come & See Friends Church | Texas City, TX
No, it is not the Sea of Galilee or the Jordan River. It is the Bay of Galveston, Texas. Yes, for the last few months, our God has been at work creating a new thing among the Evangelical Friends movement on the Texas Gulf Coast. These faithful fishers of men, women, and children (currently around 50 or so) are casting their nets on the other side, and proclaiming the truth of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of these ones lost in sin and lost in life. The launch and grand opening has already celebrated several converts to new life and the hope of on-going service to those hungry or addicted or suffering from the trials and labors of life where they find themselves.
A new ministry called Come And See Ministries (www.casministries.org) and Come And See Evangelical Friends Church is a mission-based, evangelical ministry led by Pastors Walter Lawson and Don Owens, and Chaplain Danny Skelton, located in the inner city of Texas City, Texas. Their team of pastors, ministry leaders, and youth serve in their community to help individuals gain stability in their lives first by meeting their physical needs, and then, emotional and spiritual needs through an ongoing relationship that honors God. And so, just like Jesus invited His disciples to “Come and See,” they feel they should invite those who are already in their community to Come and See the love and salvation of Jesus everyday. The leaders of Texas Area Friends Churches or Affiliated Friends Churches Gulf Coast have provided some funds and local workers have cast vision and fund-raised locally to purchase a portion of a commercial building in downtown Texas City where they worship corporately and base this outreach.
Please keep this ministry in your daily prayers.
