Dear Friends in the Leadership Institute,
Larry Lewis, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Barclay College, will address the important ministry of “Family Building through Sports and Recreation” at our Church Leadership Institute for Ministry class, July 11. Larry Lewis combines his responsibilities as Vice President for Institutional Advancement, with coaching at Barclay College. He is Head Volley Ball Coach. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Friends University and Master’s degree in Physical Education from Wichita State University. Larry grew up in a Friends Pastor’s home. His father, Dale Lewis, many Friends remember as Pastor of Northridge Friends Church for several years. Larry came to Barclay College from Evangelical Friends Church Southwest, where he gave leadership for twenty-five years in the Friends Christian School, a ministry of Rose Drive and Yorba Linda Friends Churches. Larry was a teacher for six years, Assistant Principle for sixteen years, and Principle for three years. Among his many responsibilities was the oversight of the sports and recreation program. Larry has devoted many years to building healthy families through recreation and sports. Larry is married to Sheryl, and if you want to know how proud they are as parents and grandparents, ask them about their family. Larry and Sheryl are talented musicians and share their musical talent generously at Barclay College and Haviland Friends Church.
Our hope is to make Larry’s class and all classes available to as many Friends as possible, so we will upload the video of Larry’s presentation to YouTube (as we do every video-recorded session) through Drew Davenport’s computer technology skill. To access the videos click here and go to your desired class.
If your church prefers a time more convenient than Mondays to participate in the Institute, consider organizing a fellowship gathering for viewing the videos to fit your schedule. Our established Institute sites where live video conferencing occurs include: Bangor Liberty Friends Church, North Newton (at the home of Merl and Eunice Kinser), Lighthouse Fellowship Church (at the home of Jerry and Mary Louthan), Friends Bible Training School (in Alaska Yearly Meeting) at the home of David Miller, Noatak, Alaska (Robert Sheldon, Superintendent), Fowler Friends Church, Arkansas City Friends Church (at the home of Bud Lawrence), Friends Ministry Center (Wichita), Neighborhood Friends Church (at the home of Tom and Bonnie Bousman), Faith Friends Church, Friends Community Church (Angleton), Sudanese Community Church (Omaha), New Hope Friends Church (Rocky Mountain Yearly Meeting), and Barclay College (Jackson Hall).
I am eager to join with you at 7:00 p.m. central time on July 11, 2016, the second Monday night in July, since the first Mondaynight is the Fourth of July. I assure you that you will learn from Larry many ways to build healthy families through sports and recreation. Hopefully, you will be able to log in at 6:50. Each month one person in the Institute shares a story, testimony, or something else about himself/herself.
I assure you that you will learn from Larry many ways to build healthy families through sports and recreation.
Grateful for your leadership and participation in the Institute,
– Dave Kingrey, Director of Leadership Institute
